Designing a speaker with four production techniques
Year: Second Bachelor Year
Course: Industrial Production
This was a groups work. The goal was to design a speaker by using four techniques. We chose for: CNC cutting, injection molding, SLS printing and lasercutting.
The model is made of 12 panels of CNC cutted multiplex. This technique was used because we design the inside of the box in a way that the sound could be better transported. The legs of the box were made by injection molding. It needed to be completely filled so it was strong enough to hold the speaker. The three plates that hold the actual speaker and the frame in the front were made by lasercutting. The material that is used is ABS. The 8 big pieces are created by SLS printing. That technique was chosen because it had a nice look and it was the best way to achieve our design. There was a little mistake and the color of the pieces are blue instead of black.
