Redesigning a project in order to produce it and make it economically viable

Year:  Master Year
Course: Innovation and Market-Oriented Design

Not only do we learn to design products but also to redesign products from other people in order to make them easier and cheaper to produce. For this course, we were three students who redesigned a box which is made to help the elderly to do the morning and evening routine by themselves, for example brushing their teeth without having to stand up. It could also help caretakers to take some workload off them and increase the self-esteem of the users. Two different prototypes, named Fraai and Fraaier, are made because it is not economically viable to produce the new one in the first year. We come to that insight after making a financial plan (a summary can be seen in the pictures). We made that financial plan based on quotes from companies. Three different cases were studied after conducting research, a realistic, pessimistic and, optimistic case. A promotional movie can be seen under the pictures.
